For maximum chain drive performance, abnormal sprocket engagement and free-stand vibration must be reduced. Although optimum arrangement of tensioners and snubbers depends on the drive configuration, there are general rules that apply to all Silent Chain drives. Using the illustration on the right, as an example of a typical layout, consider the rules presented below.
